When Hobert drove us back to the hotel, he let MariBeth out at the hotel and asked me to go with him to park the car. MariBeth acted a fool about it, of course. Hobert and I sat in his car and talked for close to 20 minutes; about a lot of stuff, about a bunch of nothing, about silly stuff, about serious stuff. We talked about the convocation. He had a lot to say about it, too... "I think the convocations have gotten better each year that you have been coordinating the convocation. I think you are an asset to the GBF Fellowship and most definitely an asset to the Youth Ministry. I don't think you should quit the convocation. I don't want you to quit the convocation. It would be a travesty and a disservice to the Youth Ministry if you quit. I believe the convocations would go down if you quit. I may not be in the position to ask you to do this, but I am doing it. Nobody asked me to do this either. I have been watching when you were in your meetings. You are good at what you do. It's amazing to watch you do what you do. You seem happy when you are doing your thang. You can't quit right now. As far as ole girl that's always on your case, let me worry about her. You just do your thang and I will take care of her." I listened to him closely. He was serious and sincere. He almost convinced me not to quit. *** Hobert walked me to my hotel room. MariBeth gave me an earful when I got to the room. After I told her what Hobert and I talked about she calmed down. She ended up agreeing with Hobert. She doesn't want me to quit either. Labels: 2006 |
