Rev. Loias Turner had a hard time in life for the longest.  He had a lot of tragedy and turmoil in his life.  When he preached his first sermon, he became so sick that he was unable to preach that night.  The next time he was to debut, he lost his voice.  The third time he was to debut, he preach with such an anointing, that several people gave their life to the Lord.  It was evident at that moment that Rev. Turner would be a dynamic preacher.

In 1987, Rev. Turner had a disagreement with his pastor because he began to preach about the Holy Ghost.  His pastor told him that if he insisted on preaching on the Holy Ghost, Rev. Turner would have to leave the church.

Rev. Loias Turner felt that the Lord had released him from the ministry that he was currently a part of.  Rev. Turner left the church that he had grown up in. He left his family and his friends.

He had become discouraged with his Christianity a year after he left his home church.  He could not find a church where he felt that he belong.  He wasn't even preaching that much.  He was about to give up when one of his friends, Eld. Tommy Franklin, pastor of Trinity Pentecostal Church, talked him into going to a revival.

While at the revival, the guest evangelist called Rev. Turner down to prophecy to him.  The evangelist prophesied that Rev. Turner would soon become a pastor.   Rev. Turner almost could not believe it.

Rev. Turner became excited about the prophecy he had received.  He also became overzealous.  He tried to start his church without consulting the Lord.   Rev. Turner tried for six months to be a pastor, without success.  Rev. Turner decided to give up for a second time.

One day in 1989, while Rev. Turner was walking through the park, he bumped into an old lady.  The old lady looked at him and said, "Baby, don't give up on God.   He has not forgotten you."  Then she walked off.  Rev. Turner turned to see if the lady was still there to thank her, but she had disappeared.

In 1990, Rev. Turner had a vision.  In this vision, he saw his church.   He saw the building, the people, and the glory of the Lord in the building.   Later on, one of his friends, told him that she had a dream about Rev. Turner's church.  Rev. Turner knew it was time for him to begin his church.

Shiloh Peaceful Rest Church was founded in 1990.  Rev. Turner named his church Shiloh Peaceful Rest because he wanted it to be a place where people could have peace.  When Rev. Turner began to look for the property to house the church, he found a place.  When he stood on the property, he was at such peace.  He knew that Shiloh Peaceful Rest was going to be the name of the church.

Shiloh Peaceful Rest as grown steadily in the Lord.

Rev. Loias Turner's favorite saying is, "Don't give up, the Lord hasn't forgotten you".
