Oakdale Memorial Church, located in the center of Hillsborough began in 1980 with 6 members, Pastor James Creekview, his wife, Dr. Robin Creekview, their son, James, Jr., Pastor Creekview's mother, Mother Orilla Creekview, and a friend of Dr. Creekview's and his wife, Darrell and Mitsy Mann.

Under the guidance of the Lord, Pastor Creekview and the church purchased the church where Oakdale now stands.  At first, the church struggled because most of the churches near Oakdale were non-Pentecostal.  Most of the people were reluctant to even visit the church. Bro. Darrell Mann decided to go witnessing in the local neighborhoods.  With the blessing of the pastor, Bro. Darrell and his wife, Mitsy went on their way. The witnessing efforts were successful.  The membership began to increase.

By 1987, the building was not large enough to hold the members.  Pastor Creekview went to the church's board of trustees to discuss how to accommodate the growth. Pastor Creekview and the board decided to enlarge the building with pledges from the members. With much prayer and a whole lot of faith, Oakdale began its building project.

The project was going smoothly until March 4, 1988.  A child was playing near the construction area.  A beam fell from a crane and the child was crushed and killed.  Construction on the church was stopped. Pastor Creekview and Bro. Mann offered to pay for the funeral. The child's family accepted the offer.

Construction was about to resume a month later when the church was served with a lawsuit.  The child's family was suing the church. Construction could not resume.

Pastor Creekview set-up a meeting with his attorney and the family's attorney. The family's attorney was asking for over $6 million. Pastor Creekview's attorney refused the offer. The church and Pastor Creekview were in court for over a year before the case was resolved.  Oakdale ended up paying the family $200,000 to the family while the construction company paid $2 million.

By the middle of 1989, Pastor Creekview was discouraged and about ready to give up.  James, Jr., then 15 years old came to his father and prayed for him. After James, Jr. had finished praying, he told his father, "Daddy, don't give up yet. I am not ready to be a pastor right now."  Pastor Creekview laughed at the thought of his son being a pastor.  Pastor Creekview continues on in the ministry after his son's words of encouragement. Oakdale joined the Greater Buelahland Fellowship in 1992.

In 1996, James, Jr. enrolled in Wonami Bible College in .  He graduated in 1996. He enrolled in Person-Manigold Theological Seminary in 1997.  James, Jr. graduated with a doctorate in Theology in 2000.  Dr. James Creekview was appointed pastor of Oakdale Memorial Church in 2001.

Under the leadership of Dr. Creekview, the church has grown. Pastor Creekview, Sr. serves as a member of the board of trustees, along with Bro. Darrell Mann. Dr. Robin Creekview heads the church's medical services. Sis. Mitsy Mann serves as the Director of Community Outreach for the church.

Mother Orilla Creekview went home to be with the Lord in 2001, just after her grandson, Dr. Creekview, was appointed pastor of Oakdale.
