Johnson Ministries was started by Bro. David Johnson and his wife in 1995. Johnson Ministries is a ministry geared toward helping teenage boys and girls who produce children out of wedlock.

The ministry began because Sis. Johnson's cousin, who was then 16, became pregnant.  Sis. Johnson's cousin was very distraught and needed some guidance. Sis. Johnson and her husband were able to counsel both the teenage mother and father.  Bro. & Sis. Johnson also helped the teenagers' parents through the ordeal.  After that occasion, Bro. Johnson began to talk to his wife about starting a ministry that would help other teenagers.  They set-up the ministry. They did not realize that starting the ministry would be a full-time thing.  Sis. Johnson, being a perfectionist, made sure that everything was in order. She hired a lawyer, a psychiatrist, and a minister to serve as chaplain. She and her husband also attended classes.

The ministry needed money in 1996 or it would have to down-size. Neither Sis. Johns or her husband wanted to do that. A wealthy area businessman's daughter had come to Johnson Ministries seeking help.  She had not yet revealed who her parents were to the staff of Johnson Ministries. After two weeks of counseling, she told who her parents were.  Sis. Johnson went through the usual routine with the young lady, her parents, and the young father.  This time the results were not typical. The young lady's father asked if the ministry accepted donations.  Bro. Johnson said, "Yes." The businessman made a very sizable donation to the ministry and continues to do so.

Johnson Ministries has helped many young teenagers, both in helping to prevent unwanted pregnancies and helping teenagers to go through unwanted pregnancies.  Once when interviewed by a local newspaper, Sis. Johnson was asked, "Why do you all work so hard to help teenagers in this situation?"

Sis Johnson responded, "I was 18 and just starting college when I discovered that I was pregnant.  My husband, who was my boyfriend then, was 20 and a star baseball player. My parents were very harsh and disapproving when I went to them and told them.  My boyfriend was even cold after I told him.  I felt all alone.  If it were not for Mrs. Vation, the college cafeteria cleaning lady, I don't know what I would have done. God knew my destiny and He placed someone in my life to show me what to do to help young people in the same situation. It is a hard time for a young person when an unwanted pregnancy occurs.  They need someone to help them through. This ministry does that. We also help prevent unwanted pregnancies by teaching abstinence. Yes, ABSTINENCE, in all capital letters. Abstinence is the best way to prevent unwanted teenage pregnancies.  IT can be done."

Johnson Ministries holds seminars, classes, and sessions that are appropriate for today's teenagers and young adults to help them deal with sexual issues. They also travel to churches to talk to pastors, youth leaders, and parents about teenage sexual issues.

Johnson Ministries joined the Greater Buelahland Fellowship in 1988.

Bro. & Sis. Johnson attend Thomas Pentecostal Temple in Aspy.  They have four children, Vashun, Deanna and Dianna, and Michael.
