Pastor Luther James founded Hill Chapel House of Worship in 1985.  Hill Chapel is located in the illustrious Hill Chapel area of Fontaine.  Eld. James lived in the Hill Chapel area. He attended a church that was an hour away from his house. He became weary over the drive.  He had also begun to feel spiritually hindered at the church. Eld. James began to pray about starting his own ministry.  After three months, he and his family began holding services at their house in the den.  After three Sundays, a neighbor came by and asked why there was always singing and preaching in the James' house. Eld. James told the neighbor that they were having church. The neighbor asked if he and his family could attend the next service.  Eld. James said, "Yes." The neighbor and his family attended the next service.

After that, the services began to grow.  Before long, the James' den would not hold all of the members. Eld. James and Deacon Arthur Roughton began looking for a suitable place in Hill Chapel to hold their services.  They found a very nice place to build their sanctuary.  In early 1986, Hill Chapel House of Worship began construction.  The sanctuary was completed in late 1987.

Hill Chapel had its dedicatory service on December 21, 1987. Hill Chapel House of Worship joined the Greater Buelahland Fellowship in 1998.

Hill Chapel's membership has grown over the years. It is now the most popular church in the Hill Chapel area.

Hill Chapel House of Worship has birthed a number of churches. These churches are called the House of Worship Fellowship of Churches.  These churches are under the leadership of the Greater Buelahland Fellowship, but we are a family of churches.
