As the founder and president of Kingston Communication, Eld. Thomas Kingston held volunteer prayer meetings and Bible studies every day at his company. The sessions soon became a weekly service held each week on Thursday nights. His employees began bringing their families. The daily sessions that started with 12 people soon began to bring in 60 plus people each Thursday. The meetings were getting to big for the company office building to hold them. Eld. Kingston's wife, Sis. Deborah Kingston suggested that they move the service to a hotel. Eld. Kingston was reluctant to do so. He believed that the small meetings that he wanted to hold were getting too large. The meetings kept growing, but Eld. Kingston didn't want to change the venue of the meetings. One day, one of Eld. Kingston's friends asked him if he needed a building. Eld. Kingston became upset because he thought that his wife had went behind his back and talked to his friend. His friend told him that one of the people attending the service had mentioned it to him. Eld. Kingston told his friend that he could use the building. Eld. Kingston friend rented the building to him. The services moved to 5123 Bethany Lane. The service kept growing. Sis. Kingston told her husband that she should begin a church. Eld Kingston looked at his wife as if she had lost her mind. Eld. Kingston had no intentions of being a pastor. Sis. Kingston prayed and asked the Lord to touch her husband's heart. On November , 1988, Greater Bethany Pentecostal Church was born. The members were very excited about the church, although Eld. Kingston still had his doubts. With his wife, Sis. Kingston, as his co-pastor, the church grew and flourished. The church joined the Greater Buelahland Fellowship in 1990 after Sis. Kingston met Sis. Letitia Hastings at a Women's Convention. Greater Bethany continues to grow with a membership of upwards of 250 members. Greater Bethany believes that through prayer and studying the Bible, the church, its members, and its love will continue to grow. |
