Givens Ministry was founded in 1990 by Sis. Melora Givens. At the time, she was the first lady of the Phillipi Christian Center. After Sis. Givens husband, Rev. Herin Givens founded the church in 1989, Sis. Givens began to feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of starting a new church.  She was beginning to get stressed out. Sis Givens, being only 22 at the time, did not have much experience at being in the ministry. She went to talk to Missionary Darlene Adkins, the first lady of the Greater Buelahland Fellowship.  Missionary Adkins was very helpful to Sis. Givens.  Missionary Adkins also served as a mentor to Sis. Givens.

In 1990, Sis. Givens felt the leading of the Lord to begin meeting with other women who were in the ministry.  The meeting began with five women and it soon grew to over 50 women within six months. Missionary Adkins acted as one of the session leaders. Sis. Donnie Glenn, the first lady of the Faithway Christian Church served as a session leader also.

Givens Ministries (Women In Ministry) became official in 1992. Missionary Darlene Adkins and Sis. Donnie Glenn serves on the board of directors along with Sis. Givens, D. M. Adkins, and Beverly Wiyze.

God has blessed. Givens Ministries now holds a seminar twice a year, once in February and once in August.  These seminars have been attended by over 1,000 individual women.

Givens Ministries primary purpose is to help other women who are in ministry whether they be first ladies, preachers, teachers, or have their own ministry.
