Rev. Brett Abbey started Cathedral of Faith in 1990. The church began in the Somantic Hotel Lexmark with Rev. Abbey, his wife, his brother, and his brother's wife and two children. Rev. Abbey and his members met in the hotel for three months before they received their first new member, who turned out to be Greg Holman, a center for the Legler Badgers. Greg was searching for something and he found it that night at Cathedral of Faith. After Greg visited the church, the number of visitors began to increase each Sunday. In 1992, the membership had increased to 150. A building was purchased on Pine Ave. The church was moved to 5541 Pine Ave. The membership continues to grow under the leadership of Rev. Abbey. Rev. Abbey had become disheartened with the fellowship that he was in. He fasted and prayed looking for a new association to be under. In 1994, he met Marcus Crouse at a church service. Marcus introduced him to Bishop J. B. Adkins who was the founder and presiding prelate of the Greater Buelahland Fellowship. Cathedral of Faith joined Greater Buelahland Fellowship in 1995. The vision of the Greater Buelahland Fellowship was synonymous with the Cathedral of Faith. The two were a perfect fit. |
