In 1977, Dr. Adkins-Garnett began working in Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House Of Rest.  She worked tirelessly to help establish ministries in the church.

In 1989, a ministry that Dr. Adkins-Garnett had established at Greater Buelahland Interdenominational House of Rest became an independent ministry.  The ministry was called Proverbs 31 at the church.  When Dr. Garnett took the ministry independently, she called it By Example Ministries.

Although Dr. Adkins-Garnett does not have any children of her own, she works diligently as a children's advocate. She has been instrumental in getting state legislation passed that would protect children who have been abused or assaulted.

Dr. Adkins-Garnett is the Director of the Ordination Board of the Greater Buelahland Fellowship.

Dr. Adkins-Garnett is a dynamic speaker and teacher. She travels and speaks at conferences, conventions, seminars, and the like. She has written several books, several of which are used in the By Example Ministries curriculum.  She has written and composed songs for the Greater Maddocha United Choir and Bright Future. She serves on the Board of Directors of Bright Future, a youth community choir in Hardaway. She aids her husband in his ministry, Call Me a Christian Ministries.

As a public community minded person, Dr. Adkins-Garnett serves as a mentor in the One of the Remnant Program.  She serves as a teacher for Johnson Ministries.  She serves as a "Hardaway Concerned Citizen Committee" Member.  She serves as a "Keep Hardaway Safe" committee member.  Dr. Adkins-Garnett served as the campaign secretary for Congresswoman Debbi Langdom.

Dr. Adkins-Garnett believes that the older ladies have a responsibility to teach the younger ladies how to be Proverbs 31 ladies.
