The Fords felt the leading of the Lord to establish a ministry geared toward married couples with no children. It was called Audelia Ministries Couple Care. The ministry ministered to these couples through Bible Study, Couples Outings, Trips, and Events for the men and women separately. The ministry focused on unchurched couples living in the Apartment building where the Fords' lived. The ministry grew by leaps and bounds as the couple ministered to other couples in the building. In 1988, the apartment building was sold to a conglomerate who made radical changes to the building. The Fords had to move the ministry to a building in the neighborhood. They continued ministering to the couples, oddly enough, although many of the couples moved out of the area, they still attended the meetings. Audelia Christian Church was born in 1989. People with children began to join the church. Eld. Dena Ford talked to her husband about the need for ministries geared towards children. Eld. Dena met Carlos Lopez, a member of the Greater Buelahland Fellowship. He put her in contact with Sis. Donnie Gleen, the first lady of Faithway Christian Center. Sis. Glenn helped Eld. Dena set-up a first class children's and youth ministry. Audelia Christian Church joined the Greater Buelahland Fellowship in 1990. Audelia Christian Church still has seminars, retreats, and functions for married couples. The church also has an excellent singles ministry that serves the same functions as the marriage ministers. Audelia continues to grow by leaps and bounds as the Lord sees fit. |
