Allen Temple was established in 1983 by Dr. Richard Handon. The current pastor, Eld. Armand Handon served as the assistant pastor to his uncle, Dr. Richard Handon. The two men worked together tirelessly in the ministry. They witnessed, preached, or talked to whomever the Lord brought into their path. By 1988, the membership of Allen Temple had grown. The church had to be moved from Allen Street because the building was too small. The church moved to its current location on Center Road. Allen Temple continues to grow. To date, Allen Temple has a membership of over 300 members. The church has Outreach Ministries that help the surrounding community in a number of ways. When the Greater Buelahland Fellowship was started in 1988, Allen Temple was among the first churches to join. Allen Temple had been looking for an organization to join; the Greater Buelahland Fellowship exemplified the mission that Allen Temple had. Allen Temple joined the organization and became active. Allen Temple's adage is… "The community needs us and we need God. With the help of God, we can reach the community!" The pastor and the membership reflect this adage. |
